Package & Label Design in Trail, BC

Trail has a proud tradition of home cooking and family recipes, and more local makers are turning those recipes into products: Italian-style sauces, spice rubs, hot sauces, preserves, baked goods and more. Incube8 Creative is a package and label design studio just up the highway in Castlegar, helping Trail producers get their products shelf-ready.

Packaging that sells your product

Good packaging does a lot of work: it catches the eye, explains what’s inside and makes customers trust your product enough to try it. We design labels and packaging that look professional next to national brands while keeping the personality that makes your product local.

  • Pasta sauces, salsas and condiments: jar and bottle labels that stand out on the shelf
  • Spice blends and BBQ rubs: shaker jars, pouches and refill bags
  • Hot sauces: bottle labels with heat ratings and tasting notes
  • Preserves, honey and pickles: classic or modern jar labels
  • Coffee, baked goods and snacks: bags, boxes and sleeves

Labels built around Canadian food labelling rules

If you’re selling prepackaged food in Canada, your label has to meet Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requirements. There’s no pre-approval process, so mistakes often aren’t caught until after printing. We design your packaging with these elements planned in from the first draft:

  • Bilingual English and French text where required
  • Common name and net quantity in metric units on the principal display panel
  • Ingredient list plus allergen and gluten statements
  • Nutrition Facts table, and the front-of-package “high in” nutrition symbol required since January 1, 2026 for foods high in saturated fat, sugars or sodium
  • Dealer name and address, best-before date and lot code placement

We flag anything that needs your attention before files go to print, and recommend a final check with the CFIA’s Industry Labelling Tool.

Why Trail producers work with us

We’re minutes away, so we can meet in person and see your product up close. You work directly with one designer, get clear pricing up front and receive print-ready files for your printer or label supplier. Need a logo or website too? We do those as well.

Frequently asked questions

Are your labels CFIA approved?

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) does not pre-approve food labels; producers are responsible for making sure their labels comply. We design your labels around CFIA labelling requirements and flag anything that needs your attention, and we recommend a final check with the CFIA Industry Labelling Tool before printing.

Do my food labels need to be bilingual?

Most prepackaged food sold in Canada must show mandatory label information in both English and French. Some exemptions exist, for example for certain local foods, so check which rules apply to your product before printing.

Do I need the front-of-package nutrition symbol?

Since January 1, 2026, prepackaged foods that meet or exceed set levels of saturated fat, sugars or sodium must display the front-of-package “high in” nutrition symbol, unless an exemption applies. We plan room for it in your design when needed.

What types of packaging do you design?

Jar and bottle labels, pouches, tins, boxes, sleeves, roll labels and can or case packaging. We deliver print-ready files for your printer or label supplier.
